What's the pig logo all about?
Before anyone asks, I’m, not a pig-farmer, or bacon-supplier! I’ve been asked a few times about how I chose my my logo.
My logo is a pig in a geometric circle. I desgned the logo in early 2021 after watching a beautiful film called ‘Pig’. The pig is in a circle to represent Cartesian geometry, from Rene Descartes, a philospher from the 15th Century.
Here’s the story…..
Early in 2021, around the time I was starting this company, I watched a film with Nicholas Cage, called ‘Pig’. The film is a beautiful story of a man who has truly found his purpose and dedicated himself to it. Everyone he met in the film was impressed by his resolve and clarity. A great quote from the film is ‘we don’t really get a lot of things to really care about’. It’s a lovely film – I recommend it.
Now – why the circle?
For many years, I have been impressed by the most basic thing in people – their ability to think. Some think easily, some find it more difficult. But for most, thought is at the core of who they are, what they do and the difference they can make, every day. All people can make their lives better if they think more clearly and without distraction or interruption from our complex world. This is the basis for economies, societies, science, our belief systems and many other things constructed through human creativity. Thought is at the core of all of us. Descartes was a philosopher and mathematician who lived between 1596 and 1650. In his book of 1637, he created cartesian geometry and wrote “cogito, ergo sum” (“I think, therefore I am”). He wrote that we cannot be sure how much of our world is real or just imagined – whether our world or our bodies are manifestation of reality, or just of our minds. Descartes was clear that we exist through our minds, through our thought and consciousness. Thus, I think, therefore I am (I exist).
This is still considered to be a fundamental pillar of Philosophy. I have always found it a comfort that, even if there is nothing else, our thinking is solid and unarguable. I imagined Descartes’s mind floating in a sea of mathematical cartesian shapes – like the ending scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey! I had to use one of Descartes cartesian shapes for my logo – a circle!
The idea of purpose and thought are baked into my coaching approach and business. The connection between our ability to think and the positive power this thought can have for us, the people around us and our world. Connecting this with the purpose that comes from seeing, creating and owning your own plan – this is such a positive thing for our own positivity and our mental & physical wellbeing.
The logo jointly represents the journey I have travelled, and the journey I can help others with – the connection of thought and purpose. These are within us all – they just need to be released.
With clear thought we can all find positivity and purpose.
